Meet Linda, our most recent Emergency Case. Her story is just too sad. Linda is a 10 year old, grossly emaciated senior from Manhattan Animal Care and Control who was found wandering in the Bronx, so weak that she was wobbling. She should weigh at least 20 pounds but is scarcely 14. Her teeth are badly rotted, both from a combination of neglect as well as poor nutrition. She has several abscesses in her mouth that have ruptured and burst through onto her face. Despite this terrible ordeal, Linda remains a sweet and gentle girl. Although very weak, on her way to rescue she was so grateful to the driver that she covered her face with kisses as you can see from the photo above. Linda is currently receiving critical care at our vet's office, where she has been placed on an IV drip. When she is strong enough, she will receive much needed dentistry, will be vaccinated and also microchipped. Linda will be professionally groomed before going home and will also be sporting a new leash and collar.
