Hershey Kiss(Adopted)
Hershey's Kiss is a young male chocolate Cocker Spaniel who is currently featured on our website as one of our Emergency Cases. We recently rescued Hershey from Animal Control in Brooklyn, where we found him covered in infected sores and trembling in a corner of his cage. This was Hershey's second visit to the shelter, as he had previously been thrown out by his family and turned in as a stray. Because he was microchipped, Animal Control was able to track his owners down the first time he came in, and they actually showed up to claim him. When asked about his deplorable condition, they said they had no idea what was wrong with him but promised to take him to a vet. Within a few months, however, Hershey was back, this time as an owner surrender, and in even worse condition than before. Having been severely neglected, Hershey was now abandoned by his owners at a kill shelter, where his prospects of adoption were non-existent. Having been left to die by his family, Hershey was then rejected by several other Rescues due to his horrific state. Abandoned Angels was his only hope. Despite the fact that he has one of the most hideous skin infections we have ever seen, because our policy is never to refuse a Cocker in need, we of course took Hershey in. Hershey's skin condition may be indicative of an underlying disease which must be diagnosed in order for Hershey to be properly treated. We are currently holding a special fundraising event (an "Emergency T-Shirt Sale") to generate funds for Hershey's care.
