UPDATE: We have just posted some new photos of Posh Spice, taken after 3 months in the hospital. She remains hospitalized, but her health is now much improved. It was actually quite difficult to take photos, as Posh is so happy when she emerges from her cage that she just will not stand still! Posh has now gained 9 pounds and is expected to recover fully. Posh will be spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all shots, and professionally groomed prior to adoption. We expect her to be available for adoption in early August. BIO: Posh Spice is a beautiful 1 year old black and white female Cocker Spaniel. Her coloring reminds us of salt and pepper. Posh Spice was abandoned at a local shelter by her owners when she contracted a terrible upper respiratory infection. When she did not get better without medical attention, her family simply dumped her, claiming that they just did not have money for a vet. Given how ill she was, the shelter was not equipped to care for her, so they got in touch with Rescue. Within a few hours, Posh Spice was picked up by a kind volunteer and delivered to our vet's office, where she is being treated for pneumonia through IV antibiotics and fluids. Our vet anticipates that she will require hospitalization until at least the beginning of May. Although Posh Spice remains in guarded condition, we are all rooting for her. However, her medical bill will be extremely high. Between her IVs, multiple CBCs, radiographs of her chest and other hospitalization expenses, we are anticipating costs in the region of $2,000.00. We are a very small Rescue and cannot save critically ill dogs like Posh Spice through adoption fees alone.
