Meet Angel, an 8 year old purebred Cocker Spaniel ... Actually, "Saint" might be the better name for him, after all he's been through. We were alerted to this poor boy's plight by a Good Samaritan, who was offering aid to his elderly owner. Angel appears to have been well cared for while his owner could live independently. Once she went to live with family, however, everything suddenly changed. Although the family owned four of their own dogs who appear to have been well treated, for some reason they took a dislike to Angel and kept him crated in a garage, almost all of the time. Angel began to develop muscle atrophy, growing matted to the skin and filthy. This treatment of Angel went on for the better part of a year until his owner finally realized that he had to be rehomed. Angel appears to hold no grudges, for he remains loving and very friendly. We believe he will make an excellent family dog, however we are inclined to think he will do best as the only pet, as he is not great with all dogs. Angel has now been professionally groomed (shaved almost to the skin) and is being treated for an ear infection. Angel is otherwise a healthy dog who has been neutered, microchipped, is current on all shots and has tested negative for heartworm. All he needs now is a place to call home.
