911- HELP LADY LIVE PAIN-FREE!
LADY was surrendered to the NYACC Manhattan Shelter by her so-called family. Poor Lady has glaucoma and is nearly blind and within days, she was slated for euthanasia. Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue immediately pulled her and she left the shelter the very next day with her foster family.
Most dogs leave the NYC shelters with kennel cough. Because of Lady's age, her kennel cough quickly worsened and developed into pneumonia. She was hospitalized right away but despite being on IV antibiotics and fluids for over a week, Lady's health began to steadily decline and she stopped eating.
Thankfully, our vet discovered that Lady had pyometra (an infection of the uterus) as well. The shelter had told us that Lady was spayed but that was clearly incorrect and this misinformation nearly caused her to die from a systemic infection. Within a week following Lady's emergency surgery, she began to rebound and start to eat again. She spent several weeks in the hospital recovering from both ailments and her plight is not over yet.
Lady recently saw an ophthalmologist who confirmed that she has painful glaucoma. In addition to a mature cataract which cannot be corrected, Lady also has retina degeneration which is causing this senior girl to go totally blind. To stop her pain, Lady will need a surgical procedure and/or injections into her eye. It saddens us to think that this gentle, loving Angel has endured so much already but this is eye care will be the final step in making her feel 100% better and will give her a chance to live out the rest of her life pain-free and hopefully, get adopted.
Lady is an awesome girl, an absolute sweetheart. She is so loving despite her eye pain and visual impairment. Lady loves playing with her toys, especially her favorite ball. She enjoys going for walks, smelling the grass, and sniffing all the different smells in the air. Lady loves the company of people and sees people, places, and things from her heart.
Please help us provide Lady with the ophthamlogist care she needs and deserves and SHOW HER THAT SUNNY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN by purchasing a raffle ticket this month.
