UPDATE 7/22/14: Sadly, Buster has been recently diagnosed with diabetes and requires insulin shots twice a day. We are seeking a permanent foster home for him with somebody who will be able to administer his shots. We we will pay for all his medication.
Hello All - my name is Buster. I am a handsome 7 year old Lhaso Apso and a recent transplant to NYC from our nation's capitol, Washington, DC, where I was pulled from the local humane society with a number of other dogs in need. All of my other D.C. friends have now been placed, so I find myself a little behind the 8 ball, the last of our group still to find a home!! Of course I am somewhat to blame for my present situation, I won't argue with that. Unfortunately, I am not the best with strangers (after all, who knows who any of these potential adopters could be), and the fact that rescue does a reference check is really of small comfort to me. I am slow to trust and need time to bond and feel secure before new people handle me. But who could hold that against me, really? Would you appreciate some random person suddenly hugging and squeezing you at the shopping mall? I think not. After all, I am a Lhaso Apso, not a movie star. While I am grateful for all the fanfare (and admittedly I am very cute) all this unexpected attention is really quite overwhelming to me. I am thinking to hire a publicist simply to manage it all and maybe a personal bodyguard to boot. However, if you'd be prepared to take things slowly, I'd be willing to go for a walk in the park and give things a try. I am a healthy boy (neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on all shots) and actually quite a good egg once I get to know someone. If you would like to meet me, please email or visit where you can complete and return an application on-line. I'll be waiting to hear from you ... I am indeed looking for love, just need a slow courtship ... Best regards, Buster xxoo
