Hello, my name is Daisy Mae ... and may I say a bit about myself? First, some brief introductions. I am a buff colored female Cocker Spaniel, roughly 8 years old, who was surrendered to a local shelter when my owner fell ill. Although the reasons were never particularly clear to me, my prior owner did not meet my basic needs very well. I arrived at the shelter very thin (I was really hungry!!) and also suffering from a skin infection. Thanks to my friends in rescue, I am now very well fed and my skin infection is clearing nicely. With a regimen of oral antibiotics as well as medicated baths, I am now beginning to look and feel a whole lot better. I was extremely scared in the shelter environment, where I stayed at the back of my cage huddled in a little ball, hoping the nightmare of being a senior shelter dog would simply go away. Much to my delight, it actually did! Since joining rescue, I have begun to feel much more secure. I no longer shake and am enjoying some much needed pampering. I am a true velcro Cocker, always wanting to be by her caregiver's side, always ready to show how gentle, loving and affectionate I can be. I am trustworthy enough to be placed with young children and also get along well with other dogs, so expect to be re-homed in fairly short order. I have been spayed, microchipped, am current on all shots and have tested negative for heartworm. I have just been treated to a dental as well as to a professional grooming and will be sporting a new leash and collar at the time of going home. If you would like to adopt or foster me while I await my new forever family, please click here to complete an application on-line, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. With you on my side, things should pretty soon be coming up Daisies for me!
