A Best Friend, An Angel for Life...

Hawthorne is a handsome male Cocker Spaniel roughly 10 years old who comes to us from Animal Care and Control of NYC, where he was turned in as an owner surrender. Sadly, despite his extraordinarily sweet and gentle nature, his adoption prospects were remote as an older dog. Hawthorne soon found himself wearing a Scarlett Letter - the infamous "E" for euthanasia - that is the fate of so many senior pets who are abandoned by their families. As we could not bear to see such a loving dog put down, we accepted Hawthorne into rescue. Given his excellent temperament, Hawthorne should make a fine addition to a home with kids, in fact his nature is such that we would trust him with a toddler. Hawthorne is a healthy boy who has been neutered, microchipped, is current on all shots, and has tested heartworm negative. He will be treated to a dental, a professional grooming and a new leash and collar before going home. Hawthorne is now ready to wear a new Scarlett Letter - "L" for love and "F" for forever are some of his particular favorites. If you would like to begin a new alphabet with Hawthorne, please email rescue@nyabandonedangels.com and request an application. Hawthorne is available either for foster or adoptive placement.
