Hello, my name is Indigo Blue ... named for my striking blue eye (the other is a more typical shade of brown). As you can see, at the moment I am looking a little bit worse for wear. Please excuse my appearance, I have just been through a terrible ordeal. I recently came into the Brooklyn Shelter as an emaciated stray,  very frightened and matted to the skin. As a Cockapoo , I need regular grooming to keep my coat in shape, but no one ever bothered with that, in fact I was lucky even to be fed. I am learning now what it means to be well nourished and to be kept clean ... apparently family dogs live like this every day. I mean, who would have guessed that life could be this good? I am slowly coming around to the notion that I too could have a family that loves me very much. I love other dogs and am slowly learning to relax in the company of people (it only takes a few cookies for my heart to open up), so I am showing great potential. My few trust issues aside, I am otherwise a healthy young dog (my age is estimated at 2 years) who has been neutered, microchipped, is current on all shots and has tested negative for heartworm. I have just enjoyed my first professional grooming and will go home with a new leash and collar.
