A Best Friend, An Angel for Life...

Meet Jodee, a 2 year old purebred Cocker Spaniel who's bouncing back after having had a pretty hard time. Jodee was surrendered to Animal Care and Control of NYC due to a spinal injury that left her rear quarters paralyzed. She required emergency medical care as well as immediate surgery, so was released to rescue right away. Her surgical procedure at the Animal Medical Center lasted a full 8 hours, with one of her disks not just ruptured but also completely crushed. Her surgeon is not sure how or why this happened ... she may simply have been genetically vulnerable to this type of injury. Jodee has now left the hospital and is recovering in a volunteer's home. She is now up and running again with the help of swim therapy (please see her amazing video). Although her gait may never be perfect, she is able to use all four paws of hers again just fine. Jodee is otherwise a healthy girl who has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and heartworm tested. She will be professionally groomed before her placement and be sporting a new leash and collar at the time of going home. If you would like to adopt or foster Jodee while she continues her recovery, please click here to submit an online application or email rescue@nyabandonedangels.com to request one. Jodee is waiting to hear from you!
