Popcorn (Poppy for short) is a timid little guy with a big heart. He needs a new home because his current owner cannot provide him with the special socialization he needs to overcome his fear issues. Poppy needs to go to an experienced dog owner, preferably a couple, who is willing to invest some time and energy in making him feel safe and loved. He thrives on structure. His intelligence is superior and, once comfortable, he loves to focus on learning new commands and tricks; plus he absolutely loves to play ball. Poppy's favorite treats are peanut butter, carrots, popcorn (his namesake--of course), and apple; and he woofs down wet dog food with relish. He is food-driven, but once he warms up, it's easy to see that love and cuddling are just as important to him. Although Poppy is very timid around dogs, he would probably do well in a home with other well-socialized animals, as he seems to take cues and learn from those he has encountered. He responds to all basic commands (sit, stay, lay down, give paw) and is a great walking companion. He is fully house-broken and always respectful of his owner's property. With the right support, there is no doubt that Poppy will be a wonderful and devoted companion. He has been neutered, microchipped, current on all shots and has tested negative for heartworm.
