UPDATE: Shaggy has just completed a 1 month in-home rehabilitation program with an experienced and highly regarded trainer. He is ready for placement now, but will need an adult only home in which to continue his progress and work one-on-one with a foster or adopter. Training support will be provided in the setting of your home, with all costs to be borne by rescue. If you would like to work with Shaggy, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Experience with rescued dogs would be helpful but is not essential.
Shaggy Dogg is a handsome 3 year old purebred Cocker Spaniel with a natural tail who comes to us from Animal Care and Control of NYC, where he was turned in as a stray. Shaggy Dogg was very scared upon intake but is settling in nicely now and starting to come around. In the initial term, he will need a home where he can be treated with patience and understanding in order that he can find his place in the family and begin to feel secure. As he gets along well with other dogs, Shaggy Dogg should easily be able to join a multiple pet household and might even benefit from living with a well-adjusted canine sibling to show him the way. Shaggy Dogg is a healthy boy who has been neutered, microchipped, is current on all shots, and has tested negative for heartworm. He has just enjoyed a professional grooming (is somewhat less Shaggy now!) and will go home with a new leash and collar. If you would like to adopt or foster our Shaggy Dogg, please click here and fill out an on-line application. Shaggy is waiting to hear from you.
